Bob Welch Speaks at Sixth Floor Museum's Living History Program

Former reporter and cameraman for NBC affiliate WBAP-TV Bob Welch captured the only known sound recording of the official announcement of President John F. Kennedy's death.

Bob Welch grew up in North Dallas. After serving in the Marines, he became a reporter and cameraman for Channel 5 in Fort Worth, covering the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963.

Welch was a combat cameraman/reporter in Vietnam, covered Martin Luther King's assassination in 1968 and has won a White House Press Photographer's Award.
