An early-morning crash on Interstate 35E south of downtown Dallas near Colorado Boulevard closed several lanes of traffic to commuters Wednesday.
Officials said the driver lost control of his rig just before 12:30 a.m. while going around a curve.
The crash spilled the truck's cargo all over the roadway, delaying the cleanup by several hours and slowing the morning commute. Additionally, about 150 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from the rig -- that had to be contained before they could begin cleaning up the spilled cargo.
Investigators believe speed and a shifting load may have been a factor in the crash. Both the driver and a passenger in the truck were able to make it out of the rig safely.
By 9 a.m., two of four lanes of I-35E were still blocked, including the HOV lane, though crews had managed to get the big-rig back on its wheels.
Alternate routes are Beckley, Jefferson Viaduct and Corinth Viaduct.
