Azle Football Field Vandalized

Vandals left their mark at Azle Hornet Stadium early Friday morning.

Azle High School students arriving for band practice found graffiti sprayed on the football field.

An obscene image along with "Azle sucks" and "Boswell" were written.

"I walked up and the closer I got to the stands, I could see the field was different," said Azle High School senior Zach Barry.

Who's responsible for tagging the field is unclear.

Azle ISD officials said they did not report the incident to police.

Crews from Sheriff Power Wash did their best to remove the graffiti, but the images remained on the field prior to the game against Boswell High School.

When game time arrived, both schools made their peace. Student council leaders exchanged good words.

"Anybody that has anything to do with Boswell has apologized," said Azle High School senior Toni Barrow. I don't think anybody holds anything against them."

Despite the circumstances, Azle High provided a good deed for Boswell High.

During the game, students collected money that will go to a charity under Boswell's name.

"We felt like we needed to rise above and be the bigger person," said Barrow.

Late Friday night, it is unknown if Boswell students are responsible for the tagging.
