An Austin police officer will not face charges in the death of a man who fell and hit his head after being shocked with a stun gun.
Prosecutors on Thursday announced a grand jury declined to indict Officer Martha Cameron in the death of 62-year-old James F. Sizer.
Police on March 6, 2015, responded to shots fired calls from Sizer and a neighbor.
Prosecutors say Sizer stood on his driveway, refused to get on the ground and Cameron discharged a stun gun. Sizer fell and struck his head on the ground.
Sizer was treated then charged with discharge of a firearm. He posted bond. Sizer died at home on March 14, 205, of complications from blunt force head trauma.
His family in December filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Austin.
