An Athens man convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and running over her as he fled has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.
A Henderson County jury in June convicted 31-year-old Joshua Harold Golmon of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The girl was abducted in March 2008 as she walked to a friend's home.
Golmon's cell phone, discovered in the pasture where the victim was dumped, helped lead to him.
Prosecutor Lenda Burnett on Tuesday told The Associated Press that Golmon's SUV left a tire mark on the girl's abdomen.
Burnett says running over the victim "just made it so much worse," although the girl did not suffer serious injuries from the vehicle.
Golmon was sentenced Friday.
