
The Fort Worth Police Department released additional details about an incident on Jan. 9 during which a man exchanged gunfire with officers.
During a press conference on Friday, Jan. 17, Fort Worth police were called to a domestic disturbance at about 6:30 p.m., where a man was said to be intoxicated and firing a gun inside a home in the 5600 block of Seafield Lane.

A woman told officers that her boyfriend had been โdrinking all day," and had discharged a firearm multiple times inside the residence, according to 911 audio played during the press conference.
When officers arrived, they attempted to call out to the man from outside the home and then heard gunshots coming from inside.

Moments later, a man who was later identified as 31-year-old Cameron Leverett came out of the home and began shooting at police officers.
Fort Worth police said multiple officers returned fire, striking Leverett.
Leverett was given first aid by the Tactical Medical Unit and MedStar staff before being taken to the hospital, police said.

Leverett continues to receive medical treatment at the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Police said no other injuries were reported during the incident.
According to police, Leverett faces seven counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member.
An investigation into the call and shooting is ongoing.
