Arlington Rolls Out New Segway Tours

You'll soon be able to experience Arlington in a whole new way. Next week, the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau will begin offering Segway tours that will take visitors through the city's Entertainment District.

At some point, you've probably driven through Arlington's Entertainment District. You may have even walked through it, too. But chances are, you haven't experienced it standing on a Segway.

"It gives just a different perspective," said Ronnie Price, president and CEO of the Arlington CVB.

Next Thursday, the Arlington CVB will begin offering Segway tours of the city. They've teamed up with Segway Fort Worth, which designed a 90-minute guided ride that takes people all around Six Flags Over Texas, Globe Life Park and AT&T Stadium, among other places.

"There's already a natural path of people walking around," said Price. "I think this is a fun way to have a wonderful tour of the area."

Segway Fort Worth Manager Scotty Gonzalez says you don't need any experience on a Segway to take the tour. Before you head out, guides will give you 15-20 minute tutorial.

"It's a little wobbly at first, but once you get your balance anybody can ride a Segway," said Gonzalez. "It's enjoyable to all."

He said once you get the hang of it, the real fun can begin.

"It's a great way to get out there and see everything at a quick pace," said Gonzalez.

The new Segway tours will be offered every Thursday through Sunday at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The cost is $65 per person.

All riders have to be at least 14 years old.

You also need to book your time in advance. You can do that by calling 817-631-3273 or by visiting the Arlington CVB's website.
