Trio Ditches Car after Wrong Way Chase in Arlington, 1 At Large

Officers terminate pursuit when driver entered I-30 headed in the wrong direction

With the help of K9 officers, Arlington police have taken two suspected burglars into custody following a car chase Tuesday morning. A third person remains on the run.

Police said they were notified about a suspicious person on the 2500 block of Southcrest Drive at about 10:30 a.m. who may have been related to a burglary investigation.

The person drove off and officers pursued until the driver entered Interstate 30 headed in the wrong direction -- department policy prohibits pursuing drivers driving into oncoming traffic.

A short time later the driver, and two passengers, ditched the car and tried to escape capture on foot.

Police, including K9 officers, found two of the three people and took them into custody without further incident.

Officials eventually ended their search for the third suspect, who remains at-large.

Police said a lot of property was found in the abandoned car, though they didn't speculate on whose property it may be.

Assisting Arlington police in the search for the suspected burglar are officers from Fort Worth, Pantego and Dalworthington Gardens.
