Arlington Launches New Road Construction Tracking Site

Anyone who has driven in Arlington recently has likely noticed a lot of roads under construction.

The city of Arlington says it is constantly bombarded with questions about those street projects, which is why it launched a new tool to help keep citizens in the know.

This week, the city unveiled its new "Street Tracker" website.

Using lists and interactive maps, it allows users to see where road projects are underway, when they'll be completed and which a contractor is working on them.

It also shows where future construction will take place and tells users how much those projects cost.
Officials say they wanted to give citizens easy access to that information in one place.

"We're feeding that information, keeping it up to date and trying to keep that information as transparent as possible," said Jay Warren, communications manager for the city of Arlington.

Arlington will spend $261 million on road projects over the next five years.
