Arlington GM Plant to Resume Production Next Week

Workers at Arlington's General Motors plant are scheduled to return to work Monday after a nine-week shutdown, the Star-Telegram reports.

Body shop employees are returning first, but by the end of Tuesday all production workers will have resumed their schedules, representatives of United Auto Workers 276 said.

The plant, which halted production to reduce inventory, builds full-size SUVs.

The reopening comes after GM’s emergence from bankruptcy court on Friday, now 61 percent owned by the federal government but freed from billions in debts, the paper reported.
