Arlington City Council Approves Incentives for GM Parts Hub

The Arlington City Counil approved $14.3 million in economic incentives Tuesday night for GM to build a new parts hub.

Officials said the parts hub will bring in nearly 1,800 new jobs when it opens.

The parts hub will be built on Division Street, on the other side of the GM assembly plant on Abrams Street. There is no word yet when the hub will open.

GM officials said having its parts supplier closer will help reduce transportation costs and improve productivity at the assembly plant.

The company announced in 2014 they would invest $1.4 billion into the plant to expand its capabilities and update its technology.
