Animal Killed as Texas School Barn Vandalized

Three South Texas juveniles have been arrested after being accused of abusing 30 animals -- killing one of them -- while vandalizing a high school's barn.

The Monitor in McAllen reports the animals, including goats, pigs, lambs and a steer, are part of the Future Farmers of America program at La Villa High School.

La Villa Independent School District Superintendent Judith Solis said some of the animals looked like they had been whipped and jerked around. The one animal killed was a black-and-white lamb.

Solis said the juveniles also scattered the animals' feed all over the barn and broke a waterline when they vandalized the barn Saturday night.

None of the juveniles arrested are students with the La Villa school district, located about 30 miles northeast of McAllen.
