Angel Tree Provides Holiday Hope for North Texas Families

The Salvation Army Angel Tree program is making thousands of North Texas families' Christmas wishes come true.

Among them is the Chimal family, which is having a tough year financially. Yelitza Chimal had to stop working after giving birth to her fourth child.

Her husband has been working extra hours to pick up the slack, but just paying the mortgage and other bills has been difficult. The family would not have been able to afford Christmas presents for the children.

Thankfully, Angel Tree donors are stepping up to help the Irving family.

The family asked for winter coats for the children and some toys. The family said thanks to Angel Tree, this will be a great Christmas.

"They are going to wake up with a smile on their face knowing that they are going to have something to open," Yelitza Chimal said. "Thank you."

The family is set to pick up their gifts Dec. 17.

You can donate by stopping by participating malls in North Texas and signing up to be a donor.

The Salvation Army said as of Thursday there were 12,819 Angels that have been adopted but the gifts have not been returned yet.
