American Airlines Prepares for Winter Weather at DFW Airport

With winter weather expected to hit North Texas overnight, American Airlines is taking precautions to make sure all hands are on deck to help any travelers affected by the weather.

In fact, the Fort Worth-based airline offered employees financial incentives to come in on the first day of the new year.

The incentives are for all employee groups except pilots and flight attendants. Mechanics, gate agents, and ramp workers could get as much as $5,000 in a gift check for working Thursday.

"We're making every effort to help our customers during the expected winter weather. We're offering incentives for more employees to work the holiday, and we're increasing the flexibility for customers to change their travel plans to, from or through DFW," said American Airlines spokesman Casey Norton.

Passengers with a ticket for Thursday, Jan. 1, on American Airlines, American Eagle, US Airways or US Airways Express flights from, to or through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport may change their flight for another one through Friday.

To change travel plans, contact American Airlines Reservations at 1-800-433-7300 in the U.S. or Canada. For US Airways flights, customers can change their trip online at usairways.com/manageyourtrip or call 800-428-4322.
