Amarillo Police: Man Uses Taxi for Robbery

Amarillo police have arrested a man accused of taking a taxi to an adult business, robbing the place and making the cabbie the unaware getaway driver.

Potter County jail records show 46-year-old Duane Lamont Alexander was being held Wednesday on an aggravated robbery charge. Online records don't  list an attorney to speak for Alexander, whose bond was $50,000.

Amarillo police say an adult store was robbed Tuesday by a man who appeared to have a gun. The clerk saw the suspect leave in a taxi. Officers located the cab and arrested Alexander.

Police say the cabbie, who was not charged, told officers he took Alexander to the business, waited as requested and left when the suspect returned to the taxi.

A bag of stolen cash was recovered from the cab.
