The latest news from around North Texas.
Courtney, a five-year veteran of the Allen force, handled punts and kickoffs in high school, junior college at semi-perennial powerhouse Blinn Junior College, and at the University of North Texas.
He went on to serve the Allen community as a K-9 Unit officer and now as a school resource officer, earning Police Officer of the Year in 2010 and the Chief's Sworn Award in 2009.
Now he’s looking to swap the badge for a kicking tee.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to death for the opportunity to kick for a professional team, and a team in the community for which I work," he said in a press release issued by the Wranglers.
Who knows, he might just make it. He’s got the home-field advantage, right?
