Woman's Body Found Wrapped in Comforter, Roommate Charged

Suspect found hiding under a pile of clothes

A man has been charged with murder after his roommate's body was found wrapped in a comforter inside their apartment bathroom.

Dallas police officers arrested and charged Melik Smith with murder after a woman's body was found inside an apartment on Cockrell Hill Road Wednesday.

Earlier that morning, a woman called police asking officers to check on a woman, Onkuli Morris, who lived at the complex. The caller said Morris' rommate, Smith, refused to say where she was.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they found a trail of blood leading from the living room to a bathroom. Morris' body was found wrapped in a comforter on the bathroom floor, police said.

While searching for evidence, police said they found blooding clothing in Smith's bedroom and an object that may be a murder weapon.

Smith was found a short time later hiding under a pile of clothing in a closet.

He was taken into custody, though he refused to speak with detectives. He is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail without bond.
