Woman Beaten in Road Rage Attack

Police arrest suspect hours later

A man accused of beating a woman in a road rage incident was arrested Wednesday at an apartment complex, Fort Worth police said.

Suzanne Sanjuan of Keller told police she was traveling eastbound in the 2300 block of NE Loop 820 Tuesday at about 11 p.m. when she looked into her rear view mirror and saw a car tailgating her.

She said the car was so close to her bumper that she could not see its headlights so she tapped her brakes to alert the driver to move back.

That's when Sanjuan said the driver and a female passenger who was in his Saturn pulled up to the passenger side of her Ford SUV and threw an object that struck her vehicle, police said.

When Sanjuan pulled off northeast Loop 820 to inspect the damage, police said the Saturn also pulled over.  Police said the driver and his passenger got out of their vehicle and began kicking and punching Sanjuan while yelling obscenities.  The pair then got back into their vehicle and drove away, police said.

Police said the Saturn's license plate number and description led patrol officers to Merric Taylor.  Officers arrested Taylor Wednesday at about 4 a.m. inside an apartment complex in the 5900 block of Meadowbrook Drive.

Police said he was booked into the Fort Worth jail on a charge of robbery because he is accused of taking the victim's cell phone during the alleged assault.

The victim's injuries are not life threatening, police said.

Sanjuan, who works at a Granbury restaurant, declined to comment about the attack.
