Woman Sexually Assaulted Near Turtle Creek: Dallas Police

Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman in Uptown Dallas.

On Saturday at approximately 2:30 a.m., the woman was walking in the 3300 block of Fairmount Street toward Turtle Creek Boulevard when the man approached her, put his hand over her mouth, dragged her toward the creek area and sexually assaulted her, according to police.[[303321331,L]]

After the attack, the man ran away, police say.

The man is described as Latino, between 20 to 30 years of age, with a thin build and a mustache, wearing jeans and a tan polo shirt.

"In the office, we're thinking that that might be some sort of uniform maybe, like some customer service or valet," said Dallas Police Maj. Jeff Cotner.

Police are urging everyone in that area to be on alert, and they are looking for surveillance video from nearby apartment complexes to try to get a glimpse of the man.

Police say the woman lives in the area, and other Uptown residents are concerned.

"It's practically right outside my apartment building. It's a little bit worrisome. I often go on walks by myself, [and] I don’t ever feel in danger. I know it's stupid to go alone," said nearby resident Brittney Schram.

"I was shocked. I was surprised. I know there's been a little bit of history with Katy Trail and this area and things happening," said nearby resident Samantha Park.

Crimes Against Persons detectives want to speak to anyone who was in the area that evening who may have observed the possible suspect or who may have information that may be related to this incident.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment for this crime. If you have information, called 214-373-TIPS (8477).
