Police Blotter: Woman Found Dead on Freeway

Here's a daily list of recent activities drawing the attention of North Texas law enforcement. List compiled on Aug. 30, 2010.

Woman Found Dead on Freeway
Bedford police said they are close to identifying the woman whose body was found along Airport Freeway early Sunday morning. The victim was found just after 2 a.m. lying in the roadway of westbound state Highway 183 near Brown Train overpass. She was found wearing a pair of blue jean shorts and a bathing suit. The victim was run over by a driver in a vehicle traveling westbound on the freeway. Police said they have spoken with concerned callers and have a tentative identification after speaking with family members. They are now waiting on the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office to make the positive identification.

Man Drowns Over the Weekend in Collin County
The Collin County Sheriff's Office was called to a drowning at Collin Park near Wylie just after 6 p.m. Sunday evening. When officers arrived, members of the Wylie Fire Department were already performing CPR on the victim. He was transported to Plano Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses told police the victim, Oscar Mareno, was swimming in a designated swimming area at Collin Park when he began to have problems. A person at the park pulled him to safety started CPR until the fire department arrived.

Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash
Two people were injured during a motorcycle crash in Mesquite. Police were called to Interstate 635 at Gross Road just after 10 p.m. on Sunday where a the driver of a motorcycle had crashed. The male driver and the female victim were both injured and taken to Baylor Hospital for treatment. No word on what caused the accident.
