A Ponder woman told police Wednesday that she shot and killed her ex-husband after he sexually assaulted her.
The 29-year-old woman, whose name is not being released as she may be a victim of sexual assault, told police she pulled up to her home Wednesday morning and found her ex waiting for her. She said he pulled her inside the residence and raped her.
According her statement to police, the ex then found a gun and told her unless she shot him with the gun he'd kill her. She told police she said she didn't want to, but that when he came at her she shot him in the chest.
At 9:51 a.m., 911 received a call from the woman where she notified them of the assault and shooting and asked for instructions on performing CPR.
By the time emergency responders arrived, the man had died.
At this time the woman has not been charged with any crime, though the Denton County Sheriff's Department said they'd likely present the case before a grand jury.
