Woman Faces DUI Charge After Slamming Into Police Car

A woman is facing at least a DUI charge after slamming into a  Dallas police officer's cruiser overnight Wednesday, police said.

At about 1 a.m., the officer was driving southbound on Monfort, crossing Belt Line Road, when he was struck broadside by another driver.

The impact caused the officer's patrol car to spin out of control and hit two other vehicles, a sedan and a pickup truck, that were stopped at the intersection.

The officer was transported to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.  The female driver of the car that hit him was not injured and was arrested at the scene. The drivers of the two vehicles struck by the officer are expected to be OK.

Investigators suspect the woman was driving under the influence and said her charges may be upgraded from DUI to intoxication assault depending on the extent of the officer's injuries.

NBCDFW's Kim Fischer contributed to this report.
