Woman Arrested in Possession of Nearly 400 Pounds of Marijuana

A South Texas woman has been arrested and charged after authorities say they found nearly 400 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle she was driving.

The Laredo Morning Times reports 20-year-old Jessica Navarro of Rio Bravo is charged with second-degree felony possession of marijuana.

Deputies with the Webb County Sheriff's Office pulled over a vehicle Navarro was driving Monday for a traffic stop.

They searched the vehicle after noticing several packages in the back and found the drugs, which have an estimated street value of more than $476,000.

Navarro is being held without bond in the Webb County Jail. It wasn't immediately clear if she has an attorney.

The county's sheriff says the office's investigators are working to determine where the drugs came from and were going.
