Three Hospitalized After Crashing Into 2 Big-Rigs

Serious crash hinders traffic Thursday morning

A "passing manuever gone bad" caused a major wreck along westbound Interstate 20 near Carrier Parkway Thursday morning, according to Grand Prairie police.

Police said at about 6:15 a.m. the driver of a rock-hauler was slowing down to pull into a construction area along the highway when a car hit him from behind and spun into another big-rig.

Investigators said the driver of the car was trying to pass the rock hauler when the car hit the truck.

A 17-year-old woman was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital, but she is expected to survive, police said. Two other people were hospitalized and are expected to be OK.

Traffic was limited to two lanes for a good part of the morning while investigators and crews cleared the scene.
