Who is Shooting at Dallas Cops?

Dallas police said someone shot at a marked patrol car early Monday morning.

The officers were in the process of clearing out the crowded parking lot of an Exxon station at Northwest Highway and Walton Walker when they heard a loud bang, Senior Cpl. Gerry Monreal said.

"They had their lights and sirens on," he said. "It's pretty bold for anyone to do this. They would probably do it again."

Witnesses said 200 people had gathered in the parking lot when the clerk called police because "things were getting ugly."

After police heard the shot, a witness found the bullet next to the cruiser. It had crashed through the front bumper, just underneath the head lamp.

People who live and work in the area said they hope police find the shooter.

"It gets pretty crazy out there after the clubs close," Stephanie Parks said. "I hope they catch the guy. It's frightening. Sometimes I'm here alone."

Police said they are hopeful a witness will come forward.
