White Rock Marathon Death

A 29-year-old Austin woman running in the Dallas White Rock Marathon collapsed on Sunday and died, officials said.

The cause of death for Erin Lahr remains under investigation, according to a spokeswoman for the Dallas County medical examiner's office.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the collapse of a runner at mile marker 21 of the marathon today," Chuck Dannis, marathon president, said in a written statement. "Our sympathies and prayers go out to her family."

The 26.2-mile certified course, which starts and ends near downtown Dallas, is mostly flat with some rolling hills. Temperatures on Sunday climbed to the mid-70s.
