Authorities say Westlake firefighters, whose building was damaged by a fire Wednesday, will handle calls for the Westlake Fire Department out of the Southlake Fire Department. (Dec. 31, 2014)

Westlake firefighters didn't have to go far to battle a structure fire on New Year's Eve as their own fire house was in flames Wednesday evening.

The fire was reported before 8 p.m. in the 2900 block of Dove Road while the firefighters were out on another call. Mutual aid was requested, and firefighters from the Roanoke, Trophy Club and Southlake fire departments responded.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials said for the near future, fire calls in Westlake will be answered from Southlake Fire Department facilities.
