A West Mesquite football player will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Defensive back Kameron Miles, a senior, will play with the country's top 90 high school football players on Jan. 5 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
"I'm excited about it," he said. "It was unreal. Then I committed, so it was kind of a dream come true."
The East vs. West match has been an Army tradition for the past 12 years. Last year, the game drew a record crowd of 39,011.
Miles' parents have always hoped for the opportunity.
"From the moment he was born as a baby, I just looked at him and I asked God to bless him with the talent or the ability to be something special in life," said his father, Kervic Miles. "And to stand here today at this prestigious moment is something so amazing."
Coach Mike Overton said Kameron Miles, who has signed with Tennessee, has been putting his passion into the game and in the classroom for the past four years.

"Not only is he a great football player, he is also a great student," he said. "I mean, he has a 3.9 GPA -- we're excited about that. He's a great leader, a great kid, and it couldn't have happened to a better kid."
Miles will be the second player in the history of the school district to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
"It's just a phenomenal moment and something I will remember for a long time," his father said.
The game will be played Jan. 5 and will air live on NBC 5.
