Weekend Detours: WB I-635, Dallas North Tollway

Construction and repair work will close portions of I-635 and the Dallas North Tollway

Two construction and repair projects may have North Texas slowing down this weekend.

The Texas Department of Transportation will shut down the two left lanes of westbound Interstate 635 from Josey to the Interstate 35E interchange from 10:30 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.

TxDOT will also close the southbound I-35E ramp from westbound I-635 during that time.

Westbound I-635 travelers looking to travel on I-35E southbound will need to U-turn at Luna Rd. then head on the eastbound lanes of I-635.

Workers will repair bridge decks, approaches, and joints during the closure.

In Plano and Frisco, the northbound Dallas North Tollway main lanes will be closed between Headquarters Drive in Plano and Gaylord Parkway in Frisco starting at 10:00 p.m. Saturday.

Northbound traffic will be diverted onto the frontage road at Headquarters Drive and will be able to re-enter the DNT at Gaylord Parkway. This direction of the DNT will reopen by 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Southbound Dallas North Tollway main lanes will be closed between Gaylord Parkway in Frisco and Headquarters Drive in Plano starting at 10:00 p.m. Saturday as well.

Southbound traffic will be diverted onto frontage road south of Gaylord Parkway and will be able to re-enter the DNT at Headquarters Drive. This direction of the DNT will remain closed during the day on Sunday.

Motorists on the southbound DNT and the southbound frontage road should expect delays at SH 121 during the day on Sunday.

These road closures are part of NTTA's interchange construction project. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zone and to choose an alternate route in advance.
