Water Tank Explosion Blamed for Texas Plant Accident, 3 Hurt

Investigators blame a water tank explosion for injuring three workers at a corn flour plant in the Texas Panhandle.

Bailey County Sheriff Richard Wills says authorities are trying to determine what caused the tank to explode Wednesday at the Minsa Corporation plant in Muleshoe.

Two workers were transported to a hospital in Lubbock, about 60 miles southeast of Muleshoe. Another was being treated at a hospital in Muleshoe.

Their names and further details on their conditions weren't immediately available Thursday.

KCBD-TV reported Minsa Corporation was cited by federal investigators for safety violations in January following a July 2014 inspection. The company, KCBD reported, had until February to resolve the violations.
