An 18-inch water main broke overnight near Victory Park in Dallas overnight, spewing water into the streets during rush hour traffic.
The break was reported shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday. It broke through the asphalt on Ashand Street by where it meets Field Street, between the Woodall Rodgers Freeway and the American Airlines Center.
Although water was flowing like a small river across Field Street, cars continued to drive through the stream.
It took nearly two hours for Dallas Water Utilities workers to locate the valve that controlled the flow of water through the impacted pipe and turn it off.
