Hundreds Attend Vigil for Burned Dallas Puppy

Man accused in case turns himself in to Dallas police

A candlelight vigil was held Friday night for Justice, the puppy that died Saturday after it was doused with lighter fluid and set on fire in Pleasant Grove.

The vigil began at 7:30 p.m. at Dallas City Hall. It was emceed by Richard Hunter, a local radio personality who adopted one of Michael Vick's abused animals, and 105.3 The Fan's Sybil Summers.

An animal cruelty investigation is under way. Dallas police issued an arrest warrant in the case for Darius Ewing, who turned himself in Friday night.

A $25,000 reward has been issued for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Animal torture and cruelty carries a penalty of two to 10 years in prison if convicted.
