Victim of Houston Road Rage Incident Speaks Out

A woman who was shot in the head during a road rage incident is now speaking out about her experience.

KTRK reports that 22-year-old Kay Hafford was shot March 20 after she honked her car horn at a man who cut her off while driving to work on Interstate 45 in Houston.

Hafford said the vehicle pulled up alongside her, and the driver told her to pull over and roll down her window. Shortly after she tried to speed up, she heard a loud booming noise. The driver had shot her through the passenger side window before speeding off.

After calling 911, Hafford was transported to the hospital. Doctors removed the bullet fragments from her skull. She is no longer in the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Hafford says that she believes the driver was trying to kill her, but doesn't understand why her actions would motivate the shooting. She wonders if the driver was upset before the incident.

According to Good Morning America, Hafford has forgiven the suspect. However, she hopes the suspect feels guilty for what he did.

"I'm living here to tell people that I survived, and I'm sure it's probably killing him that I'm still alive. That's enough for me, for him to have that anxiety that it didn't work," she said.

The search for the suspect is ongoing.
