Vendor Gets Prison Term for Defrauding Plano School District

A federal judge has sentenced a security contractor to 2 1/2 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud a suburban North Texas school district out of millions of dollars.

Carol Ann Larue pleaded guilty to a conspiracy count last June. U.S. District Judge Richard Schell of Plano also ordered LaRue to pay more than $1.2 million in restitution.

LaRue owns and operates a fire control and security contractor. Court documents show she conspired with Plano Independent School District employee Kris Wilson Gentz to submit fraudulent invoices from May 2011 to December 2013 and split the proceeds.

Gentz, who also pleaded guilty to the same conspiracy charge, was sentenced last month to 4 1/4 years in prison and ordered to pay almost $2.7 million in restitution.
