Vandals Smash Car Windows in Carrollton

Carrollton police spent much of Tuesday afternoon going door-to-door to look for clues following a weekend crime spree.

Vandals damaged more than 40 cars late Friday and early Saturday, according to police. The cars' windows were shot with a BB/pellet gun, or smashed with a blunt object, like a baseball bat, police said.

They hit several neighborhoods throughout the city.

"These bad guys covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time," said Carrollton Police spokeswoman Jolene Devito. "It took a long time just to get all of the reports."

Devito believes the vandals struck between 11 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday.

"There's a little bit of a pattern to it," said Devito. "Our detectives spent the day going door-to-door, going to homes and businesses in the area affected."

Devito said detectives obtained surveillance video from nearby homes and businesses. Police plan on releasing the video on Wednesday in hopes of obtaining more leads.

The vehicles were struck on 16 different streets:

  • Miramar
  • Medina
  • Panorama
  • Peninsula Way
  • Birch
  • San Francisco
  • Cemetery Hill
  • Regency
  • Furneaux
  • Peters Colony
  • Woodside
  • Earlshire
  • Luallen
  • Magnolia
  • Terrace Trail
  • Elder
