Van Found in Amarillo Linked to Armored Car Heist

Amarillo police believe a van found in a parking lot was used by an armored car driver accused of stealing his cargo of more than $200,000.

Trent Michael Cook of Amarillo was being sought Wednesday on a theft warrant.

Cook and the money have been missing since Monday morning when the armored car was found empty and running. Police initially said Cook was unarmed but now believe he could have a rifle and handguns.

Potter County jail records show Cook's father, Brian Hodge, was being held on a charge of tampering with physical evidence in the case, with bond at $10,000.

Police on Tuesday night located a white passenger van that investigators linked to Cook. Police believe he changed vehicles before fleeing.

The van was not stolen. Police didn't elaborate.
