Van Cliburn Competition Hits Midway Point

The 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is under way in Fort Worth.

Thirty people have been chosen out of 155 from around the world to take part in the preliminary rounds.

Most recently, a 20-year-old blind pianist from Japan, Nobuyki Tsujii, earned a five-minute standing ovation at Bass Hall as the competition hit the midway point Sunday.  Video of his 50-minute performance can be seen on the Cliburn Web site.

The prestigious competition happens once every four years. The competition ends June 7.
