University Park On Alert For Burglaries

Several break-ins reported since May

Ali Williams came home to a window kicked in, and at least $1,000 in jewelry taken from her house.

"The burglar left muddy tracks all over the house," Williams explained.

It is one of at least seven burglaries since May in University Park according to police.

Williams said the burglar went through all the bedrooms.

"All our jewelry was on our beds, picked through," said Williams.

Officials said homes have been hit between 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Usually, hours when homeowners have gone to work or school.

In most cases the burglar has taken jewelry and electronics.

Police are advising folks to have an alarm system and say older style homes with tall shrubs have been a target.

Police said they are taking place early during the week.
