Two Runners Robbed at Gunpoint, Third Groped in Dallas

A man and woman were robbed at gunpoint just a few miles and minutes apart in Lake Highlands early Monday morning.

A 59-year-old woman was robbed while out walking just after 6 a.m. Monday in the 10000 block of Chesterton Drive.

A few minutes later, a 26-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint in the 10000 block of Lanshire Drive.

Both victims reported a man approached with a handgun, then jumped into a white car.

Dallas police are investigating if the two cases are related.

Hours later along historic Swiss Avenue, a woman jogging was groped by a man on a bicycle.

The woman told NBC 5 she was jogging around 5 p.m. Monday, listening to music, and never heard the man approach from behind. She said she screamed and chased after him, but he got away before she could get a good description.

Swiss Avenue’s historic scenery and wide street makes it a popular place for joggers.

“It’s scary because as a female you are vulnerable and you feel like you’re going to be safe out during the day going for a run in a nice neighborhood,” said regular walker Lissa Capan.

At Luke’s Locker near White Rock Lake, employee Bree Redwing is urging her fellow runners to be safe.

“Just run in groups,” said Redwing. “That’s the safest way possible.”

Redwing says the best advice she ever received was from a police officer who told her to run with a buddy, change up your route and routine daily, carry mace and avoid running to loud music.

So far, no arrests have been made in any of the attacks.
