Two People Have Died From Heat-Related Illnesses in Dallas in 2018

Two people have died so far in 2018 due to heat-related illnesses in Dallas, Dallas County Health and Human Services said Thursday.

The 70-year-old and 63-year-old patients were both residents of Dallas. Their identities have not been released.

"Dallas County residents need to be aware of the severity resulting from heat-related illness during high temperatures,” said Ganesh Shivaramaiyer, DCHHS interim director. "Whether you are working or have a recreational activity, being outdoors for even a short amount of time can cause serious illness.”

To avoid heat-related illnesses, DCHHS urges residents to stay cool, stay hydrated and limit outdoor exercise when it's hot.
