Trusted World Clears Warehouse of Harvey Donations

North Texans stepped up in a big way to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey and this month Trusted World, the group tasked with sorting and delivering those donations, reached a major milestone in the relief effort.

For weeks, a tidal wave of donations poured into a massive warehouse run by a group called Trusted World.

After the first wave of donations, it became clear Trusted World was going to run out of space, so a company called Apex Tool Group let them borrow a 340-thousand square-foot warehouse in Garland.

In no time the warehouse was bursting at the seams with volunteers, donations and boxes.

Trusted World estimates volunteers processed more than 7 million items, including food, toiletries and clothes. Three months later, the last shipment made its way down to the Texas Coast.

"We're high-fiving, we took a moment to realize we had processed literally six football field worth of stuff," said Michael Garrett, Trusted World. "And this was the last truck that was going out. It's an amazing sense of accomplishment."

Garrett says what was even better, was the reaction when the donations arrived in the affected communities with the donations.

Trusted World hasn't completely closed the book on Hurricane Harvey relief, the group will continue to monitor the needs along the Texas Coast.
