DFW Airport Trespasser Taken Into Custody

Airport says man walked through access gate but did not reach any runways

Airport police apprehended a man who walked through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport 's perimeter fence late Wednesday afternoon.

DFW Airport spokesman David Magana said the man entered the Airport Operations Area through an access gate near Valley View Lane shortly at 4:38 p.m.

The man did not reach a runway, the airport said.

Officers took the man into custody within about seven minutes on a vehicle roadway near some approach lights for Runway 31R.

The runway was closed for about seven minutes as a precaution during the incident, the airport said. But Magana said the incident did not affect flight operations.

Magana said the incident is under investigation.
