Trash Truck Pulls Down Utility Lines

Utility crew are working on repairs after a trash truck snagged utility lines in Dallas early Monday morning., but that won't stop school for students.

Police say a trash truck was passing by F. P. Caillet Elementary School when it knocked down seven lines, including power, cable and phone lines. The interruption activated the school's fire alarm.

It happened in the 3000 block of Merrell Street at around 4:15 a.m. Monday. The street was blocked so that power crews could rehang the lines.

The Dallas Independent School District said school will go on as planned Monday. The district said the classrooms have plenty of windows, so the students will have natural light to work by, but it also brought in lights and arranged for meals to be delivered for both breakfast and lunch.
