Trampolines Recalled Over Injury Hazard

About 23,400 trampolines sold at Sports Authority stores have been voluntarily recalled because of an injury hazard.

The manufacturer of the recalled Sportspower Parkside trampolines said the metal legs can move out of position and puncture the jumping area, posing a hazard of injury, including deep, penetrating puncture wounds, cuts and bruises.

Sportspower Ltd. said it is aware of one incident in which the the trampoline leg separated from the frame while in use and punctured through the jumping surface.

No injuries have been reported.

The Sportspower Parkside model TR-14FT-COM trampolines are 14 feet in diameter with an enclosure net. The trampolines have blue or light blue fabric on the safety matting and enclosure pole sleeves. The model number is marked on the packaging and instruction manual. "Parkside" is printed on the enclosure net.

The trampolines were manufactured by Sportspower, of Hong Kong, and sold exclusively at Sports Authority stores nationwide from April 2007 through May 2012 for about $540.
