Tomball Teen Fatally Stabbed in Shower, Motive Sought

Investigators say a Houston-area teenager stabbed to death while taking a shower was attacked by a man carrying a knife and a baseball bat.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said a neighbor fatally shot the suspect, 21-year-old Pablo Sanchez, during the attack at the victim's home in Tomball, Texas.

Authorities are trying to determine a motive for Monday afternoon's slaying of 17-year-old Tyler Wade.

Sgt. Cedrick Collier said the front door might have been unlocked when Sanchez entered the victim's home. The teen and his 12-year-old sister were the only people home during the time of the attack.

"When he entered the residence, the sister went next door for help because the guy wouldn’t leave," Collier said.

The neighbor, who is a Houston firefighter, grabbed his gun and entered the residence, NBC affiliated KPRC reported.

"Upon his arrival he found a suspect with blood on him attacking the neighbor," Collier said. "The neighbor pulled out a weapon, discharged the weapon one time, striking the suspect once, then he proceeded to help the victim."

Wade and Sanchez were pronounced dead at the scene, according to KPRC.

"He was a fabulous kid with an incredible sense of humor," Tyler's mother, Amy, told KPRC. "We are all better for having him in our lives. He was a true joy."

Counselors are available at Tomball Memorial High School, where the victim was a senior. Over 100 mourners gathered at a vigil at the high school and wore the color blue to honor Wade.
