TollTag Costs on the Rise

Drivers without TollTags will soon pay twice as much as people with TollTags to drive on the DFW Connector toll lanes.

Monday is the first day that drivers have to pay a toll fee to drive on this four-mile stretch along state Highway 114.

It will cost $1 to drive on the DFW Connector for anyone with a TollTag.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the fee will increase by 75 percent and then 90 percent for the DFW connector lanes. The increase will take effect Sept. 28.

Drivers without TollTags will pay $1.50 to drive on toll lanes - that’s 50 percent more than people with TollTags.

By Dec. 28, drivers without TollTags will pay $1.90, which is 90 percent higher than people with TollTags.

Texas Department of Transportation said this is part of a pilot program to encourage drivers to get TollTags.

TxDOT said it is an easier and more efficient way to manage the toll road system.
