A 2-year-old Arlington girl and two of her siblings have been placed in temporary foster care after the toddler was found Monday night wandering in the street several blocks from her home.
The toddler wandered away from her family's home at about 7:20 p.m. Monday. Her parents said they thought she was sleeping.
The child's grandfather saw her photo on the news Tuesday morning after police asked for help in locating her family and that was when her parents realized that she had been missing for nearly ten hours.
The toddler's mother, Laquinta Weatherspoon, and father arrived at the juvenile justice center around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, and appeared to be distraught after the ordeal.
"I just want my baby back. That's it. That's all I want," Weatherspoon said. "I don't want the world thinking we're some bad parents cause that's not what this is."
It only took the judge a few minutes to grant the state custody of the three youngest children in the household. The oldest will probably be placed with a family member and the other children may eventually go there as well.
The family's prior involvement with Child Protective Services in both Lubbock and Dallas County played a part in the judge's ruling.

The children's long-term fate could be decided at a custody hearing scheduled for Oct 31.
