According to Debra Webb, police spokesperson, a 19-year-old woman was waiting to turn left from West Ledbetter Drive onto Duncanville Road shortly before 9 p.m. Friday.

Joshua Allen, 28, was speeding northbound on Duncanville Road when he ran a stop sign and smashed into the woman's Camry, Webb said.

According to Webb, the woman's two-year-old child was sitting in the "driver side back seat next to his child safety seat" when the crash happened.

The boy was severely injured and was pronounced dead at Methodist Central Hospital. His mother's condition was not released.

Allen was arrested for manslaughter and transported to Lew Sterret Jail. He was held with a $100,000 bond, Webb said.
