Dallas Tip Jar Thief Foiled By Cooks, Customers

Police arrested a man Sunday morning for robbing an El Paisa restaurant in Northwest Dallas of its tip money.

It was about 4 a.m. and the restaurant was already closing for the night when a man walked up to the counter to order food.

After he got his change, he swiped the tip jar and dumped the money into his pockets, said Jose Velasquez, the El Paisa owner. The jar had less than $100, Velasquez said.

The cashier asked why he was taking the money, and when he refused to put it back, the employees said they would call the cops, Velasquez added.
