Thousands of Flights Delayed as Winter Storms Hits East Coast

Thousands of flights across the country were delayed and hundreds canceled after a powerful winter storm pummeled the northeast.

The same storm was responsible for travel problems in the Dallas/Fort Worth area on Christmas Day.

The storm was dropping ice and snow on major airports like New York La Guardia, which struggled to keep flights on time Thursday morning.

At Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, just under 100 flights had been canceled and over twice that had been delayed due to the poor weather.

Thousands of travelers were stranded in Dallas after ice and snow caused big delays at DFW Christmas Day. That storm canceled 700 flights in Dallas alone.

Airlines advised passengers check flights before leaving for the airport. The delays were expected to last through the end of the week.
